Yesterday we had a lovely 80f day and my little lollipop crabapple tree has popped into full bloom. It sits at the corner of my cottage garden and closely follows the tulips for bloom time. At the moment is not only loaded with white blossoms with a heavenly fragrance, it is loaded with the buzz of honey bees. I snapped these pics hoping to capture the bees hard at work....but they seemed to move on faster than I.
This tree actually gets its leaves first then the blossoms
in the pic above I did capture one bee....can you find him...
After blooming, tiny crabapples form, and hang like upside down "lollipops". This will be a real treat for the birds, they completely clean the tree by fall.

Debbi, Your tree is beautiful with all of the bloom. Everything in our neck of the woods bloomed so early this year. The peonies are in full bloom and probably will be gone by Memorial Day. The roses are in full bloom. It is just unreal. Have a wonderful week. Your Missouri Friend.
Your tree is so full!! How gorgeous, Debbi! Ours were pretty decent this spring, too....but our lilacs were very skimpy because of the early warmth and then freezing temps. :( Hopefully, we won't have any more this season. :)

Debbi..your yard is always so lovely. How you work, sew, sell, create...is just more than I can understand. Iron woman..that's what you are. One of those steel magnolia's? :) No wait...you are NOT Southern.. :)
To me, the Oregon Coastline is the most beautiful ever! I miss Oregon. I will always remember the smell of the trees and the taste of the water.
Marydon...I am in Sublimity, It is 15 miles east of Salem--65 miles SE of Portland.
Ok, I found the bee. Love that crabapple tree Debbi. I think I could have a dozen of them in my yard. How pretty are they!!
Thanks for making my day a little brighter,
Char
I kept wondering why it was called a lollipop tree and then you explained it in the end. It's beautiful. So tickled to hear from you Debbi. Did the SLS do a trip this Spring or one since Tenn.? Myrtle Beach sounds awesome and I would truly love to meet up if it comes to fruition. I spent a long girl's weekend there back in January and we found some great thrifts and consignment stores. Keep me informed! xo
So pretty Deb! I love the spring too, not so much summer! lol! Happy Mother's Day!
