****WELCOME FRIENDS****
I am artist of texture and color. I enjoy working with textiles, mixed media and the graphic arts. I am an avid cottage gardener with a love for pass along plants and big fluffy pink peonies and pink roses. Many of my tangible creations reflect my love of the garden and all its wonderful colors. I have been selling my creations online since 2002 beginning as a hobby. After 10 years I quit the day job to pursue my art as a full time passion.

Grow your blog party!

A fun party I am joining in on this weekend!

To those who are new to visiting my blog, WELCOME. My name is Debbi, I reside in western Oregon in the small rural town of Sublimity. We enjoy a quick commute in Salem, Oregon's capital city. We are within 90 minutes of the Pacific ocean beaches and 45 minutes from the Cascade mountain snow activities in winter as well as many beautiful lakes and rivers. My children are grown and I have two little granddaughters (pics at the bottom of my blog) Lynsie Jean and Lilian Grace. We are very lucky that they do live close by and see them often.

I am a textile and graphic artist as well as an avid cottage gardener with a passion for old fashioned and English roses, especially pink roses. Many of my art designs reflect my love of the colors of the garden.
A little over a year ago, I took the leap to quit the "day job" and follow my bliss. Some say I retired, but I say nope, I am self employed now and really loving what I do!

My hubby Jim is a retired police officer, and together we enjoy traveling to tropical destinations. The Big Island of Hawaii is our favorite, but Key West Florida comes in at a close second.

I have been blogging on this blog since 2006, some years more than others and I tend to blog a lot more during the warm months because I love to share my gardening and traveling adventures. In 2009 I split in 2 blogs, this remaining my personal blog and forming a blog solely for my textile art website business.

I hope you will follow my blog!!
AND please head over to my other blog to see my art and throw your name in for the lovely
GIVEAWAY

Morning, Debbi! I'm Becky from The Quilting Booklady. I've volunteered to help Victoria visit blogs for the Grow Your Blog Party. What a pleasure to discover your blog! I too love thrifting, repurposing items and am learning to garden. I live in a suburb of Atlanta, but will retire to northeast Georgia in April. Key West is on the top of my list of places that I want to visit once DH retires. Thanks so much for participating in the blog party! Take care!

The re-purpose post made me laugh. Last year my 9 year old had a unit in school called, Reduce, Reuse or Recycle--she took it very seriously and was constantly telling me how I could/should reuse something including practically all plastic trash. She may not have have memorized her times table last year, but recycling she's got an A in.

Hello Debbi...I'm having fun hopping around the GYB party even though I'm a little late...but nothing new there. I've very often late because I'm busy cramming so much into my day!
It sounds like we like similar things and may have a lot in common ;D
Your location sounds wonderful too and I look forward to seeing your other website.

First time reader---brand new follower.

When we built our first house back in the seventies, I did the whole "earth-colors" thing: beiges and browns, TWO SETS of den furniture in that huge room---about eight big clunky pieces in BLACK naugahyde. I was decorating and allowing for a whole flock of teenagers who made us their go-to place for food and fun and fellowship.

The bright of the thing was the kitchen counters---a bright Brady Bunch kitchen filled with orange.

And now, with the teenagers all grown and out, the house left behind in the South, and our little house here done in pastels and greens and florals and sheer curtains with Battenburg, I feel the sense of MINE in my surroundings.

And I delight in blogs like yours, which scatter the muted colors, the big lush blossoms, the home warmth and welcome of such lovely decor. I do not share your love for beaches or tropical climes, and prefer Maine coasts and the highlands of Scotland, but I know we're Sisters of the Palette.

Looking forward to delving into more of your lovely archives,

rachel
