****WELCOME FRIENDS****
I am artist of texture and color. I enjoy working with textiles, mixed media and the graphic arts. I am an avid cottage gardener with a love for pass along plants and big fluffy pink peonies and pink roses. Many of my tangible creations reflect my love of the garden and all its wonderful colors. I have been selling my creations online since 2002 beginning as a hobby. After 10 years I quit the day job to pursue my art as a full time passion.

An early peek in the cottage garden

As the low clouds parted this morning I snapped a few pics of my wildly over grown cottage garden! But I love it, and the cool crispness this morning made everything so wonderful....click on the pics for more detail....
I swear this hollyhock was white last year....
so I have no idea where this came from...

The vintage alphabet party for July

It's time to show our vintage! The party is on over at Etsy Cottage Style Blog and this month we are sharing our vintage L and M items. I am at a loss for the M, because it is Sunday night, rushing to get ready for the dreaded Monday morning junk, but thought I would share some vintage Linens.
I generally repurpose many cast off Linens in my textile art, but I do have a few that are just too nice to cut up.

Then I thought of a couple of Lingerie bags that I repurposed from vintage Linens!

Hope you enjoyed!

Inspirational Place

I was invited by Cindy Adkins to join this wonderful blog party. Her timing could not have been more perfect. A part of my life has had sadness recently, and some days can be hard to get through. This is a very personal tragedy to someone close to me that I don't have the power to change, so I have put him in God's hands and pray for him everyday. The above bible verse was also my dad's, who passed 8 years ago. I carry this verse in my wallet as he did. I wrote it on a card and gave it to the person close to me in hopes he will read it often so he can find Christ again.

a perfect weekend at the beach....

If you live in Oregon or Washington, you know that hitting it "just right" for a perfect summer day is hard unless you live at the coast. As valley dwellers, 65 miles from the ocean, so our trips to the coastline are limited to a few times a year. This jaunt was planned several months ago as securing a camp spot for our motorhome must be made well in advance. So you always hope for good weather...and we lucked out this time!

We camped at South Beach State park which is just south of Newport on the central Oregon coast. The funny thing is, we have camped here a couple times in the past, have hiked the dunes, walked the jetty, but never knew the history of this immediate area....pretty sad since I grew up in Oregon!

Click on the pics to see full size photos
The above pic is the start of our hike to the beach---a paved walkway thru dense conifers and deciduous trees, about a quarter mile with markers of where the old shore line was as early as 1830.

The start of the boardwalk to the beach and sand dunes

Arriving at the beach---a history of how the jetty's formed this area...

acres and acres of sand dunes--all under water only 35 years ago!

is this not just gorgeous? You can see the south Jetty in the distance
okay--we had to prove WE were there!
A nice guy stopped to take our pic as we were trying to set up for a self portrait:)

It doesn't get much better than this!

The Yaquina Bay Bridge in the distance~at the far left you can see the North jetty
then there was the hike thru the soft sand back to the campground
ahhh...what a wonderful summer weekend we will not soon forget!
