****WELCOME FRIENDS****
I am artist of texture and color. I enjoy working with textiles, mixed media and the graphic arts. I am an avid cottage gardener with a love for pass along plants and big fluffy pink peonies and pink roses. Many of my tangible creations reflect my love of the garden and all its wonderful colors. I have been selling my creations online since 2002 beginning as a hobby. After 10 years I quit the day job to pursue my art as a full time passion.

Vintage Alphabet Party

http://etsycottagestyle.blogspot.com/2015/02/the-vintage-alphabet-party-february.html

This month's  challenge letters were D, E, F
I just chose one letter this month "E" and am running with it. I love to share vintage images, so here is a couple of favorites for Easter. Right click to save these copyright free images and use them in your own art, there is plenty of time before "E"aster arrives April 5th

I'm also sharing a post and tutorial from a couple years ago for the letter "E" for "Easter Eggs"
"E"asy to create too!

Starting with a wire basket I found at a thrift shop...I loved the handle!
I used styrofoam eggs, and used pinking shears to cut lots of fabric strips.
I prefer to use Fabric-Tac glue, it seems to work the best.

Starting at the top of egg glue 2 strips in a "X" fashion

Then work the next strips overlapping until egg is completely covered.
I also used snippets of lace and crochet on some of the eggs.
Added some raffia to the basket and viola!

The Resurrection

Luke 24:1-12

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened that while they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling apparel; and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, "Why do you seek the living One among the dead? "He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again." And they remembered His words, and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. Now they were Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James; also the other women with them were telling these things to the apostles. And these words appeared to them as nonsense, and they would not believe them. But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings only; and he went away to his home, marveling at that which had happened.

Bunny inspiration

Interesting how finding an inspiration piece can be the start of something creative.

I never have been particularly a person who does an Easter display. If we were hosting a dinner or festivities on this holiday, I would put together a spring centerpiece and that was about it.
I saw this bunny at a garage sale last summer. I just thought he was so cute and at 50 cents, he was going to go home with me. Maybe next Easter I would actually do a display with this lone bunny. In my travels the last few months I did find 3 more cuties, thinking at least I would have some bunnies and eggs to set out for my granddaughters to enjoy.
Then came a wonderful gift from an Easter swap I was part of this spring. Shelly sent me the most precious handmade house and a basket full of goodies. With much excitement, I created this beautiful corner vignette.

And my granddaughters could not keep their hands off the house, especially with the little surprise inside, it was so fun to peek thru the windows! And each egg has a little surprise inside. (not all candy!)

as you can see, Shelly sent me a lot more treasures in the box!
An English tea cup and tea, roses hand lotion, sweet pea seeds and chocolates....

Happy Easter to all my blogger land friends.
Let us not forget the true meaning of Easter. Christ died on the cross for us that we may be saved from our sins. We are truly saved by his grace

Printing images to fabric

I have had a lot of requests from customers in my graphic art shop on how to print images onto fabric. So I decided to publish this on my blog as a quick referral.

Yes, there are pre-made printer fabric sheets that you can buy, but they are expensive. A few years back I learned how to use the freezer paper method and this saves big time money. I put together this tutorial in 2010 to present at the Smoky Mountain Retreat for the members of ShabbyLaneShops. It was later published in the ShabbyLaneShops magazine.

Since it was originally formatted for printing, it is posted here as images. You are welcome to enlarge and print out for your own use, even share, but please do not remove my personal and business information

Support Handmade and Vintage this holiday season

I have been AWOL for the last month...actually did not realize I was so far behind in my posting. I have been so busy sewing and designing graphics for my website and etsy shop, I have hardly looked up!

A couple of  graphics that I have long had my "to do" list was something to share with all of the art and vintage seller community was to have a pretty graphic we could shout out a reminder to all holiday shoppers.
I have seen a few floating out there but they weren't "pretty". So, please feel free to copy, save, share to your blogs, websites, facebook, even as an extra image to your etsy listings. I only ask that you do not crop out my watermark at the bottom right hand corner.

Vintage Aloha

Okay, I will have to admit that I am getting in the vacation mode....our trip to Maui for 10 days and then 4 days on to the Big Island of Hawaii is just days away....and I am in need of some sun and lots of Aloha...my desktop wallpaper is a picture of a bay in Hawaii, I have been listening to Hawaiian music on Pandora. And adding the music here to my blog....

Since I love vintage cottage treasures, I also love vintage Hawaiiana. Every trip I scout for vintage treasures there too...I can't help it! I thought before my departure I would share a couple of my favorite old Hawaiian  postcard images!
